Habbo Hotel: Origins launched
After a surprise announcement on Monday, Habbo Hotel: Origins launched on Tuesday.
Macklebee, via Habbo:
Habbo Hotel: Origins is now available for you all to login to, and play through the Habbo Launcher. If you played in 2005, the hotel should feel exactly as you remember it. We’ve been meticulous about ensuring the “feel” of the hotel mimics how things were over 18 years ago. That means roller stacking, the hand, and sparkly HC badges. There are no sellable clothing items, no LTDs, no Collectibles and no pet dragons. There’s less than 10 badges in the whole game!
We found Macklebee on Wednesday in the Welcome Lounge, where he told us he indeed found an old eSali server in a basement containing backups until the transition to the new Flash client in 2009. The decision to introduce the new hotel was green lit in two days.
Even though the hotel is almost identical to the original version almost two decades ago, some changes have been necessary to make the hotel safer and compliant with modern requirements:
- New call for help flow
- New privacy options: enable public profile, offline messages, friend requests or online status
- GDPR compliance: access your data or delete it
- Email login and one-time verification codes
Origins is a completely separate hotel which means it requires registering a new account. There are three hotels: English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Habbo Hotel: Origins requires players to be at least 18 years old and has a less strict moderation system than the main hotels. Credits and Habbo Club membership can be bought from the Habbo Hotel: Origins website.
