Introducing Kalasaitti

The story of Kalasaitti began in 2008 and that makes us one of the oldest Habbo fansites still here today. The website has changed drastically over the years, most notably as we had a couple of years of break and started over in 2020. Now it's time to launch our English website and we're excited about it!

Kalasaitti's roots are in Finland just like Habbo's. It's curious the Dutch have always been ahead of us in the fansite game, bringing us amazing sites such as Habborator and Puhekupla (which was originally founded in Finland). Habborator's Msgboard hasn't been working for a while now but there's still this text which I find endearing: "No apology for bad English needed, this is an international forum, we’re all struggling." As Käärijä would say, yes yes.

Did our beloved rubber ducky tell you what Kalasaitti means? Before Habbo became international, the Finnish hotel was known as Hotelli Kultakala which originated from the Project Goldfish code name. Saitti means "website" in Finnish and fansites were sometimes fansites were called "kalasaitti" (singular).

Kalasaitti used to have at least by our standards a popular forum back in the 2010s. Since the social media took over, forums have become less and less common. As you might have noticed, Kalasaitti's shiny new front page is structured a bit like a social media feed. We think this format works really well for two reasons: it allows us to post quick news and links to other websites and we think this format encourages people to post.

Want to discuss some breaking news? Post a new topic about it! Build a cool room? Sure, show it to us! We don't know if the discussion aspect might never catch on but hey, we never know if we don't try. Please give us feedback so we can make the experience better, we really want you to find the website useful and enjoyable.

This is only the beginning of this journey. Let's see where it takes us. We hope you enjoy Kalasaitti!
